Quebec Research Tour 2008 (Montreal, QC)

Celebrate the 400th anniversary of the founding of Quebec by joining NEHGS staff experts for a research week in Montreal, Quebec. This unique opportunity will allow participants to take advantage of two premier Canadian repositories, the Société Généalogique Canadienne-Française (SGCF) and the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ). These archives hold documents from the earliest settlement of Quebec through the English period down to the twentieth century. This unique tour will also incorporate a cultural field trip to the Village Québécois d'Antan, a living history site recreating provincial life in Quebec during the eighteenth century. Participants can look forward to rich collections at the SGCF and BAnQ which include: Dictionaries of French Canadian marriages 1760-1935, print volumes of Quebec baptism, marriage and burial records 1621-1799, index of Catholic and non-Catholic marriages 1731-1825. Québec notarial records 1608-1906, Montreal directories 1842-1999, Non-Catholic vital records 1766-1899, land grant application 1890-1905, Quebec court records, 1897-1927, and parish census records 1792-1850. In addition to access to exceptional resources, each participant will receive tutorials and one-on-one research consultations.
Registration fees:
- Single, $1,550 (includes seven nights lodging at the Hotel Les Suites Labelle)
- Double, $1,350 per person (includes seven nights lodging with another participant)
- Double, $1,850 total (includes seven nights lodging with a non-participanting guest).
- Commuter, $775 (no lodging included).
