Join us in Boston on July 19 for a special seminar on genealogical writing and publishing, presented by NEHGS publications experts. We will offer two different “tracks,” for genealogists who are at different stages of preparing materials for publication: “Organizing/Writing” and “Getting Ready to Publish.”
If you are closing in on the end of your research and are ready to organize and write it, the first track is for you. Staff Genealogist Rhonda McClure, author of ten books including The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Online Genealogy, Digitizing Your Family History, and Finding Your Famous and Infamous Ancestors., will explain how to organize your materials for writing, and after lunch Director of Special Projects Michael J. Leclerc, co-editor of Genealogical Writing for the 21st Century and editor of NEHGS’s weekly eNews, will explain how to write using Microsoft® Word and make maximum use of all its functionalities.
If you’ve already got a written draft and want to know the next steps to take, attend the “Getting Ready to Publish” track, co-presented by Director of Publications Scott C. Steward and Director of Book Production Penny Stratton. They will discuss first the editorial process as it applies to both books and articles and also the steps in book production.
Opening and closing sessions will cover more general topics and will give participants the opportunity to talk about their own plans for writing their family histories—or to discuss the current status of their work.
