English Family History Research Tour--London, England

The English Family History Tour to London is an essential research trip for genealogists with British Ancestry. Based at the Society of Genealogists (SoG), researchers will be offered daily classes providing historical context and research methodology tips for working with the extensive record collection of the SoG. The library’s holdings include more than 120,000 books and microforms featuring census indexes; family histories; biographies; service, professional, and trade directories; an apprenticeship index (1710-1774), school and university lists, will and marriage license indexes; runs of Burke’s Peerage and Landed Gentry; a large number of manuscripts arranged by surname; and a miscellaneous card index of 3 million references.

GENEALOGISTS

CHRISTOPHER CHALLENDER CHILD is a genealogist of the Newbury Street Press. His genealogical interests include the American and English descendants of Wolstone and Ellen (Empson) Childe of London; southern New England, especially Connecticut; ancestry of notable figures, especially presidents; and DNA research. Chris’s work has recently been featured in various media outlets including CNN and Fox News. He served as a consulting genealogist on the Society’s 2007 English Family History Research Tour.

DAVID CURTIS DEARBORN, F.A.S.G, is an NEHGS genealogist. He has written numerous articles in scholarly journals and assisted with many published books. David’s genealogical expertise includes English and Scottish genealogy, the Dearborn Family, and families of Essex County, Massachusetts, as well as Maine, New Hampshire,Vermont, and New York City. He served as consulting genealogist and lecturer on the Society’s 2007 English Family History Research Tour.

ELSE CHURCHILL is the genealogist of the Society of Genealogists (SoG) in London, the U.K.’s largest family history library. She has been a professional genealogist for more than twenty years, and since 1998 has served as the chief genealogical officer of the SoG. She is an expert in
seventeenth-century English ancestry.

    * Deposit, $1,000 (payment in full is due by March 30, 2009).

    * Single, $4,850 (includes lodging at the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury).
    * Double, $4,550 per person (includes lodging at the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury with another participant).
    * Double, $5,550 total (includes lodging at the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury with non-participating guest).
    * Commuter, $2,300 (includes two meals, no lodging).
