D. Brenton Simons President and CEO
D. Brenton Simons is the award-winning author of Witches, Rakes, and Rogues: True Stories of Scam, Scandal, Murder, and Mayhem in Boston, 1630-1775, a popular anthology of nonfiction stories on witchcraft in Boston, New England’s first serial murders, and other previously “untold” stories. He is most recently the author of Boston Beheld: Antique Town and Country Views, hailed by historian Nathaniel Philbrick as “a marvelous visual history of a city in the midst of almost continual change.” Mr. Simons began working at the New England Historic Genealogical Society in 1993 and has served as its President and CEO since 2005. During his career he developed some of the organization’s most popular services, including its website, member magazine, and special publications imprint. Simons is an expert in the fields of early Boston history, genealogical folk art, and family history writing and publishing.

Tom Wilcox Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Tom Wilcox joined the Society in July, 2006. Tom was the executive director of Maine Maritime Museum in Bath, Maine for eleven years. Before joining Maine Maritime he was in the financial services business in Hartford and lived in Essex, Connecticut, where he and his wife, Annie, raised their two sons. Tom has a BA in History from New York University’s Washington Square College of Arts and Sciences. He served in the United States Navy on the guided missile heavy cruiser USS Boston (home port – Charlestown Navy Yard). An avid boatman, Tom is a former trustee of the Mystic Seaport Museum and the Connecticut River Museum (in Essex) and is a former President of the Council of American Maritime Museums. He has been a peer reviewer for the American Association of Museums’ Accreditation Program. Tom and Annie are trading a house built in 1762 in Woolwich, Maine for a more modern one built in 1830 in Dedham, MA.

Kelly McCoulf Assistant to the President and CEO
Kelly McCoulf joined the executive offices of New England Historic Genealogical Society in November 2007. Previously, she worked as an account manager and executive assistant to the vice president of a major travel company. Kelly has specialized communications and administrative experience with National Public Radio, CBS News, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. She graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in English and philosophy from SUNY Geneseo, and studied abroad at Leeds University in England.
