This database offers a small sample of the genealogical riches found in the Walter E. Corbin Papers (The Corbin Collection) at NEHGS. These transcriptions from the West Farms Cemetery in Northampton, Massachusetts, cover the years 1788 to 1945. The bracketed number in the "Corbin Coll. Walter E. Corbin and Lottie (Squier) Corbin became professional genealogists in 1932. Their transcriptions of vital records, cemeteries, town histories, town records, and other sources allowed them to compile one of the most comprehensive and valuable manuscript collections for Western Massachusetts in existence. After Walter Corbin’s death in 1960, the noted genealogist Winifred Lovering Holman spearheaded a campaign to purchase the whole of the Corbins’ work for the collections of the New England Historic Genealogical Society. In May 2003, NEHGS released the first of three planned fully-searchable CD-ROMs of these records.

The original Walter E. Corbin Papers are in the R. Stanton Avery Special Collections Department at 101 Newbury Street in Boston, and can be consulted by our members at any time.
