The Charitable Irish Society of Boston was founded in 1737. Its goals were to "cultivate a spirit of unity and harmony among resident Irishmen and their descendants in the Massachusetts Colony...[and]...to advance socially and morally the interests of the Irish people," and, "to allieviate suffering and to aid such of its members as by the vicissitudes of fortune might be deserving of its charity."

In addition to the constitution and by-laws of the Society, this publication includes lists of officers and members from 1737 to 1876.
