| Although the original transcription of these records is titled "Records of Old Church at (West Camden) West Rockport, Maine," research indicates that they are from the Free-Will Baptist Church, which was organized in 1798. The first minister of the church was Elder John Whitney. These records include a list of church members, admissions, dismissions, and ordainments from 1817 to 1843. Rockport was part of the town of Camden until 1891, when residents voted to split Camden into two separate towns. This action placed the church within the boundaries of Rockport.
