MATERIALS IN THE R. STANTON AVERY MANUSCRIPTS COLLECTION Materials in the NEHGS Manuscript Collections differ from books and other materials found in the NEHGS Research Library. In addition to being one-of-a-kind resources, manuscript collections often contain papers, notes, compilations, and other materials and often require consultation with a member of the Manuscript Department as they are examined and photocopied. Because of this, a search of the NEHGS Manuscript Collections (including requests for photocopies) can only be obtained through Research for Hire.
The decision to photocopy materials from any manuscript is made by the Archivist, not the NEHGS Research Services Staff. You can request these materials online. Please note that this service is only available to members. You can check the status of your membership or learn more about becoming a member of the society online.
MATERIALS IN THE RESEARCH LIBRARY If you cannot visit the NEHGS Research Library in person our research services team can search and copy library materials for you. Researchers can search books for names of individuals, families, specific dates, and other information.
Research in specific materials at the NEHGS Research Library including books, journals, rare books, and microtext materials (including probate and land records) is available through research for hire. You can request searches of these materials online or or by downloading and mailing an order form.
