How do I place an order?
You can place an order in one of four ways.

3. You can send your order, with either a check or credit card number, to: NEHGS Sales Department, 101 Newbury Street, Boston, MA 02116

Can I pay by check?
Yes, you can send a check in for your order. Simply determine the final cost of your order, plus shipping, and mail it to: NEHGS Sales Department, 101 Newbury Street, Boston, MA 02116
I don’t like putting my credit card on a computer. How else can I order?
You can order with a check or credit card by mail (see above) or by calling us toll free at 1-888-296-3447.
What is the NEHGS Member Discount?
The NEHGS Member Discount, which has been reinstated as of March 1, 2009, allows NEHGS members in good standing to take 10% off any NEHGS and Newbury Street Press titles offered in our online store or in our sales flyer.
Why am I not seeing my member discount?
You may not be seeing your member discount for one of three reasons:
1. You have not logged into our website using your six-digit member number;
2. The book you are trying to purchase is not eligible for a member discount because it was not published by NEHGS or is no longer available;
3. The book price has already been marked down.
Why are some books discounted for members and others aren’t?
The NEHGS Member discount applies only to books published by NEHGS and that are already not marked down. Some books come from other publishers and are not discounted. Books that are special orders (from our Classic Reprints Catalog) are also not eligible, as they are not being published by NEHGS.
I know NEHGS/NSP published a title but I can’t find it on your website. How can I get this title?
If you cannot find a title you are looking for, please send us an email at sales@nehgs.org and we will let you know the status of the title.
How long will it take for me to receive my order?
The shipping time will depend on both the method of shipment and the book. Most books that are in-stock and ready for shipment will be shipped out from our warehouse in 1-3 days. Special order titles (from the Classic Reprints catalog) take 4-8 weeks to be produced before they are ready for shipping.
Shipments by UPS/Standard take between 2 and 8 business days.
Shipments by USPS First Class/Standard mail will take between 2 and 10 business days.
Shipments by USPS Book Rate/Economy mail will take between 10 and 20 business days.
What is the Classic Reprints catalog?
The Classics Reprint catalog (formally called the Special Orders catalog) is a listing of over 10,000 rare, hard-to-find or out-of-print titles that we are able to offer as reprints. The reprints are high-quality reproductions produced on acid-free paper and then bound like a library book. Most titles are available in both hard- and soft-cover. We are currently working on a new edition of the Classic Reprints catalog that will contain an additional 10,000+ titles.
How do I search it?
Simply go to the Store homepage and look for the “Search the Store” section. You will see 3 ways to search: by title, author or item number. The best way to search is to simply enter the key word in the title field. For instance, if you are looking for a book on Roxbury, Massachusetts, simply enter the word ROXBURY in the title field and all titles with the word Roxbury in the title will pop up. Or, if you know a book was written by Edward Henry Jacobson, simply enter the word JACOBSON in the author field. This will allow you to see all books by authors named Jacobson.
We suggest using one keyword in order to search. Sometimes, for instance, if you entered Edward Henry Jacobson in the author field, the system will skip over any books with an author name like E.H. Jacobson, which could be the same author you are searching by. But by using just one key word, you should be able to find what you are looking for.
I entered the full title of a book I know you have but the search in the online store comes up blank. Why?
If you have entered anything that is in any small way different from the title in our system, the search system will not find it. You may enter “The Jones Family of Pawtucket, Rhode Island” but if in our system the book is listed as “Jones Family of Pawtucket, Rhode Island” or “The Jones Family of Pawtucket, RI”, you will not get any matches. We suggest using just one keyword as mentioned above.
Does my member discount apply to Classic Reprints books?
The NEHGS Member Discount does not apply to special order titles such as those in the Classic Reprints catalog.
Do I get a members discount on used/remaindered books?
The NEHGS Member Discount does not apply to used or remaindered books, as these titles have already been substantially marked down.
Do I get my member discount on books on sale?
We will give you whatever discount is better (the sale price or your 10% member discount) on qualifying books.
